Hungary
According to a survey based on the DRIVER Inventory Study, there are 8 institutional repositories in the country, 7 of them registered in OAIster, openDOAR, ROAR and BASE. These repositories are maintained by 4 out of the 26 universities in the country. Six of the repositories use EPrints, one uses DSpace and there is one based on a locally developed software.
The most important factors preventing the building of repositories are lack of knowledge in Open Access and a lack of technical know-how. According to a Government mandate on the open availability of PhD theses (March 2007), universities are responsible for providing open access to the full text of theses.
