Lithuania

There are approximately 10 universities in Lithuania.

The DRIVER Inventory Study revealed that the Electronic Lithuanian Academic Library (eLABa) is being created to function as a national digital library, supported by the Lithuanian Academic Libraries Network and three projects financed by European Union Structural Funds. The software chosen for this is FEDORA. 63 Lithuanian academic institutions take part in this project. Five collections of e-documents(ETD’s, books/book chapters, journals/articles, working papers and proceedings) are submitted to eLABa. In the near future eLABa endeavours to be supplemented with other collections of e-documents such as music compositions, empirical data, etc. eLABa content is available through the Lithuanian Virtual Library portal which is created using ALEPH, MetaLib and SFX software.
