Slovenia

There are 3 universities in Slovenia. According to OpenDOAR there is only one repository for research output. The Faculty of Computer and Information Science (FRI) of the University of Ljubljana has built a repository with approximately 300 publications.

The Narodna in Univerzitetna Knjiznica built and maintains a web portal dLib.si providing access to several digital collections (scientific journal articles, old printed books, collection of posters, images of cards and photographs, collection of master's and PhD theses). Collections from some other Slovenian institutions can also be accessed through the portal. All the collections are freely accessible.
The web portal dLib.si extracts the metadata from the local catalog through OAI protocol to an ISO bibliographic format and allows the browsing of the records and access to the contents.
The Narodna in Univerzitetna Knjiznica is implementing Fedora as the central NUK repository system and hopes to make some of the contents available in May 2008 through dLib.si web portal.
In Slovenia all the libraries are connected in the union sharing cataloguing system COBISS , which comprises descriptive metadata in Comarc (Slovenian Unimarc).
